Position title: Database Administrator
Type: Full-time employment.
Pay: $90,000
Position overview: Architect, implement, and administer corporate database systems. Improve data integrity, security, and speed of data delivery to a multitude of enterprise-level components and applications. Work together with software developers in accomplishing projects involving new and changing technology solutions.
Position details:
- The person in this position will:
- match business and IT software requirements to appropriate database designs and solutions.
- develop and implement policies and procedures related to database design, creation, testing, and administration.
- administer and performance-tune databases.
- improve current ETL methods.
- administer, grow and improve metadata layers for reporting.
- design, create, test, deploy, and support Transact-SQL code.
- monitor database systems and replication and handle problems detected.
- help oversee outsourced database-related work during peaks.
- Reports to Director, IT and to project managers for database-related projects.
- Position location: Oradell, NJ.
- Job hours officially M-F days. Some weekend work for systems changes and emergency support.
- Very limited travel. Occasional visits to sites within the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) required, likely <1 trip per quarter on average. Very rare trips to other states, likely <1 such trip per year. Occasional travel for training.
Requirements:
Must haves:
· Four or more years of hands-on database development and administration experience. Must include hands-on experience with the following tools and environments:
o MS SQL Server 2000 or later
o Sybase ASA 9.x or later
o MS Access
o Business Objects Enterprise (BOE) including ETL, Web Intelligence (Universe Creation), Crystal Reports
o Microsoft-based Operating Systems
· Experience developing Transact-SQL scripts, stored procedures, etc.
· Experience coordinating closely with software development teams.
· Experience supporting and designing business intelligence solutions including data cleansing, data conversion, data warehousing, enterprise reports development and support, dashboards, and business-user self-serve ad hoc reporting.
· Driven to get the details. Detail-oriented nature, and can demonstrate this orientation with examples of his/her systems analysis related documentation.
· Determined to understand and design solutions supporting business processes and concepts.
· Knowledgeable about and can explain an effective systems development lifecycle process that he/she has used to help guide projects to success. Does not have to be an “official” standard model.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Plusses:
· Experience developing in C#.Net.
· Bachelor’s Degree in MIS or Computer Science, or another Bachelor’s Degree with certification from an accredited institution in Systems Engineering/Administration.
· CMM knowledge
· Experience with databases running on virtual servers, especially using VMWare.
· Experience with iAnywhere’s replication technologies
· Experience developing database disaster recovery solutions
