Microsoft SQL Server DBA
Location: Jersey City, NJ (until the end of the year but will go longer, fiscal year ends Dec 31)
Job Description
Day to day duties:
Microsoft SQL Server DBA support, including: - Backup / restore databases as ad-hoc requests - Run application DML/DDL scripts against production / sometimes non-production - Add logins - Create application 'build' DDL scripts - Install/patch DBMS on servers - Grant permissions - reset passwords - problem resolution relating to database servers - Participate in Disaster Recovery testing - troubleshooting database connection problems.
Data Import Required Skills /Competencies:
Experience in SQL 2000; experience in SQL 2005 preferred. - Installation and patching of SQL Server, including named instances - experience with database clustering and failover. Veritas clustering preferred. - Replication - troubleshooting of database hardware, software, and/or communication problems.
Preferred skills:
SQL 2000 required SQL 2005, preferred Sybase ASE (on Windows) a plus.
